Beating The Drug Test System

Physical Attributes of Urine

1. Color - yellow to yellow/tan

3. Temperature - The human body's internal temperature is a constant 98.8 ^oF. When urine exits the body, it maintains a temperature of 96 ^oF (+/- 1 ^oF). Heat flows from hot to cold so when a hot object comes in contact with the cooler object, both objects will eventually reach equilibrium and their temperature will be equivalent to the surrounding environment.

In this case, when the urine enters the urine container the temperature of the urine is maintained at approximately 96 ^oF of (+/- 2 ^oF) for approximately 4 minutes. It is important to note the temperature within this time frame.

4. pH - Measures the acidity (sourness taste in limes, oranges, etc. and basicity (found in soaps, antacid medications). Urine's pH should be between 5-6 (slightly acidic to neutral).

1. Adulterants

Taking an adulterant such as Zydot is one of the best way to test negative for drugs quickly. It is safe, natural, and can be purchased in most novelty shops, health, and nutrition stores. If done correctly, Zydot and similar adulterants have a > 95% efficacy. In most cases, a person using this type of adulterant produces a bright fluorescent yellow urine.

3. Diluting with water or other substances

The addition of water or other liquid substance in urine to dilute the drugs can be successful if it passes the urine temperature test. Suggestively, turn off your bathroom sink water and add dyes in your toilet bowl.

4. Imitation Urine

In general, the physical appearance of urine should be yellow to yellow-tan in color. Unfortunately, there are liquid substances available such as apple juice, cranberry juice, etc., that have the same color as urine. Noting the temperature of the urine is important.

5. Length of time in the bathroom

The length of time that one spends in a bathroom could infer possible activity of altering the urine sample. You could confirm your suspicion to some degree by noting all-important criteria of temperature, color, and odor of urine. Therefore, the temperature of the urine may not register to an acceptable temperature of 90 ^oF. The best solution is to have a patient resubmit a urine sample.

What to do with a suspicious sample

From time to time, you will encounter a urine sample that may not be acceptable because of appearance, temperature, color, etc. If it is strongly believed that the person is trying to beat the system, you could politely as them to submit another urine sample.

Conditions to recollect the sample

1. Temperature - If < 90 ^o F.

2. Color and odor
