This analysis is valuable where overdose of an unknown
drug is strongly suspected and other information available to the physician is
insufficient as to permit definitive diagnosis and treatment. Any pertinent information
regarding drugs available and the physical condition of the patient should be listed on
the requisition form. Emergency (STAT) analysis requires consultation with the the
attending physician or nurse.
