Mononucleosis commonly called "MONO" is caused by the Epstein-Barr (EB) virus, which is a member of the herpes virus group. The EB virus occurs in oropharyngeal (mouth area) secretions of infected individuals and appears to be transmitted from the exchange of oropharyngeal secretions. "MONO" is prevalent in young adults between 15-25 years of age, a fact that may explained by the exchange of saliva during an intimacy act of kissing.

The symptoms of the "MONO" disease include a sore throat, low-grade fever that generally peaks in the early evening, enlarged or tender lymph nodes, general fatigue and weakness. In most cases of infectious mononucleosis, the symptoms are relatively mild and the acute stage of the illness last for less than 3 weeks. However, the EB virus has been associated with both Burtkitt's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, two forms of cancer.

Negative Result. No VERTICAL BLUE Line
